Ian has gained 35 years business experience working throughout Europe, the Middle East, North America Australia and New Zealand. Ian is a dedicated business manager who maintains a professional approach at all levels of business interactions. With significant business experience gained from owning four businesses of his own, and time spent in the corporateM&A world; his strengths are identifying short and long term growth opportunities as well as understanding the diversity of exit strategies available to business owners today.

Before joining Benchmark as a Senior Business Advisor, Ian was QLD State manager for Flow Systems (part of Brookfield group) where he was instrumental in creating dynamic growth opportunities for developers within the residential and commercial property markets. Prior to Flow, Ian was also at Trility, (part of Mitsubishi) Australia’s 3rd largest water company, and as Head of Strategic Growth, Ian assisted in developing  strategies for the company’s growth from 120 employees to over 400 today, including sourcing joint ventures arrangements and value added acquisitions.

After selling his own “Trenchless Technology” pipeline business to Veolia, he spent 6 years with them and was promoted to National Business Development Director. During his time at Veolia, Ian grew his specialist division from $400k to $46m per annum to become the largest water main “Trenchless” rehabilitation company in the southern hemisphere.

Prior to Veolia, Ian was the Managing Director / Owner of Pipe Shield, a specialised pipeline inspection, maintenance, rehabilitation company. Ian sold his business to Veolia.

Ian also worked internationally for companies such as Trafalgar Water Inc., where he was the owner and a consultant to a number of North American companies within the utilities, services and water industries. His main area of expertise in business, is mergers and acquisitions, consolidation proposals, market analysis, securing funding for growth, and new technology introduction and acceptance.
